Borough’s Apprentice of the Year Crowned at Celebration Event

Screen Shot 2016-03-16 at 13.54.54STOCKTON-on-Tees’ Apprentice of the Year was crowned last night during a week of special events held to mark National Apprenticeship Week.

Elizabeth Green won Apprentice of the Year and was also awarded an Outstanding Achievement certificate for the Support Teaching and Learning category.

Three other apprentices were also category winners:

  • Sam Cruse received an Outstanding Achievement certificate in the Business Admin category
  • Leonie Roche received an Outstanding Achievement certificate in the Health and Social Care category
  • Rachel Turnbull received an Outstanding Achievement certificate in the Team Lead category

Former Middlesbrough Football Club players Andy Collett and Neil Maddison joined the Leader of the Council, Councillor Bob Cook to present the certificates.

Councillor Cook, said: “Congratulations to everyone involved.  Apprenticeships have so much to offer and are about up-skilling our people and supporting the local economy.  During National Apprenticeship Week we want to remind employers that opening their doors to apprentices can give their business a boost and for young people an apprenticeship can be the first step onto a career ladder and a long road to success.”

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Learning and Skills Service organised the event to promote apprenticeships and celebrate achievements of the Borough’s apprentices.
