Building on the success of the current Snakes Alive! Exhibition, a brand new ‘Meet the Snakes’ experience takes place every Saturday during September and October at Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens.
Thousands of visitors have already enjoyed the Snakes Alive exhibition at the Museum over the summer and now they get the chance to get up even closer to these amazing creatures in a brand new 45 minute ‘Meet the Snakes’ experience.
Councillor John Kelly, Sunderland City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Public health, Wellness and Culture, said: “It is great to see the success of this fascinating exhibition. Working with partners we can now offer a new opportunity to actually handle one or two of the stars of the show. I’d encourage everyone to come along and find out more about these intriguing creatures.”
Visitors will learn about what they eat and how they catch their prey; where they live and hide; how they reproduce and grow and much more. The exhibition is packed with snake specimens, skeletons, models and stunning images as well as interactive games and hands-on displays.
Guy Tansley, Snake Expert at Bugs n Stuff, said “Snakes Alive! takes everyone along into the fascinating life of snakes, bringing to light their beauty, mystery and amazing natural history.
I look forward to seeing as many people as possible meeting these amazing reptiles in an exciting hands-on encounter. There will be an expert on hand at all times to help visitors learn all about these often misunderstood creatures. With several snakes to touch and hold there’ll be lots of photo opportunities too.”
