Paul Booth, Chairman of Tees Valley Unlimited, the Local Enterprise Partnership for Tees Valley, said: “The announcement by EDF Energy is good news as Hartlepool Power Station is a significant local employer with 700 plus staff and contractors on its books.
“Its importance to the Tees Valley economy is reflected by the fact it ploughs about £40million each year via salaries into local economy.
“In addition, nuclear energy makes a big contribution to carbon free power.”
