WHEN he entered a competition all about beds, winning was all Steven Hague ever dreamed of.
Steve predicted it would take 3,116 beds to cover the 3.9-mile distance between well-known Northallerton store Barkers Home and the Crosby Inn in Thornton Le Beans.
His guess was nearest to the correct answer of 3,138, winning him a £50 voucher to spend in Barkers Home and lunch for two people in their Tree Cafe.
The competition was organised by Barkers Home, an award-winning furnishing and lifestyle store in Yafforth Road, Northallerton, as part of the Thornton Le Beans Village Show programme, which they sponsored. The Crosby Inn is the local village pub.
Barkers Home Director Ian Barker said: “We thought it would be a bit of fun to invite customers to guess how many beds it would take to cover the distance from Barkers Home and a nearby pub.
“We were inundated with entries, but Steven was closest to the mark.”
