A team from Darlington Building Society rose to the challenge of raising funds for autism support charity Daisy Chain by climbing Cleveland’s four peaks.
As a longstanding supporter of Daisy Chain, which supports families affected by autism across the whole of the Tees Valley, Darlington Building Society booked a bespoke trek for the team of 26 staff, family, friends and dogs who wanted to take part.
Cleveland Four Peaks Challenge includes the peaks of Roseberry Topping, Captain Cook’s Monument, Codhill Heights & Highcliff Nab in a 13-mile loop to be completed in less than 8 hours.
With the help and motivation of the guides, all the team completed the trek in six-and-a-half hours raising £1,000 from colleagues, family and friends. Match funding takes the total raised to £2,000.
Andrew Craddock, Darlington Building Society chief executive, said: ‘Darlington Building Society has a longstanding relationship with Daisy Chain and staff have experienced first-hand the incredible difference the charity makes for those affected by autism.
‘Earlier this year our staff participated in the Daisy Chain Boat Race raising over £400, and now 26 of us, including myself, took on the Cleveland 4 Peaks Challenge. It was a fantastic day, for a great cause and, so far, our staff, families and friends have raised £1,000.
‘As part of our pledge to share 5% of our profits with the local community each year, Darlington Building Society is also match funding the monies already raised, making a grand total of £2,000 donated to Daisy Chain.’
Darlington Building Society are also sponsoring the Daisy Chain flagship annual Winter Ball on Friday 29th November at Hardwick Hall Hotel. This is one of the most pivotal dates in the calendar for Daisy Chain fundraising with all proceeds going to support families in the Tees Valley affected by autism.
