Who needs a football match or Royal match? On Saturday 19th May, the perfect match will be the start of Darlington Arts Festival 2018 events and the specially brewed ale ‘Artistic Licence’.

This is the sixth year that local brewer and ale producer Mithril Ales has brewed a Special Beer for Darlington Arts Festival. This year’s brew, called Artistic Licence, is 3.7% and is available in a large selection of outlets from 14th May.

Pete Fenwick of the Mithril Ales said: “Artistic Licence is a quaffable Deep Golden session beer with a hint of malt balanced with fresh, fruity hop flavour and a bitter finish. It is hopped with three American hops; Summit for bittering and flavour then Liberty and Simcoe for taste and aroma.”

Arts Festival Co-ordinator Jane Hindle said: “It’s great news that Mithril Ales are again adding an extra celebratory element to the Arts Festival with their unique ale.”

Darlington Arts Festival 2018 takes place from 19th May to 3rd June in venues across town with various events including live music, visual arts, talks, theatre and comedy, and family-friendly events. Plus, there will be a Literary Day on 26th May at Quaker Meeting House.

You can take Artistic Licence at the following venues in Darlington: Quakerhouse; Orb; Voodoo Café; Old Vic; Quoits Club; Snooker Club.

It is also available in pubs further afield: Stanwick, Aldbrough St John; Croft Hotel, Croft; Old Well, Barnard Castle; Ship Inn, Richmond; High Force Hotel, Forest in Teesdale; Glaxo Club, Barnard Castle; Ship Inn, Middlestone Village.
