Screen Shot 2016-04-21 at 09.58.44The “exceptional” performance of students at a Gateshead school has led to their college being awarded two more national accolades.

Emmanuel College, in Gateshead, has been recognised once again by the Schools, Students and Teachers Network (SSAT) for the progress students make and their attainment in GCSE exams last year.

Analysis of educational outcomes data shows the college is in the top ten percent of non-selective schools nationally for high average grades achieved by students and also for the progress they make between key stage 2 results at primary school and their key stage 4 results at Emmanuel.

The awards will be presented at a celebration event in Manchester next month that will recognise the work of high-achieving and innovative schools and teachers

Sue Williamson, chief executive of SSAT, said: “It’s my great pleasure to commend Emmanuel College on their excellent 2015 performance.

“I hope that the SSAT’s educational outcomes awards will highlight the professionalism, commitment and hard work of the leaders, teachers and students at Emmanuel College. Recognising and sharing successes like this is at the heart of SSAT’s mission, so I’m delighted to congratulate Emmanuel College on their achievement.”

College principal Matt Waterfield added: ” It’s always encouraging to hear that the levels of progress our students make and the success they go on to achieve is among the highest in the country.
“We see these awards as recognition that our approach, that places the development of students’ character at the forefront of all we do, results not only in men and women ready to make a difference in society but also in them achieving beyond what even they themselves believed was possible.”
