Redcar & Cleveland College’s Football Development Centre are holding the final Football Open Day on Tuesday 1st September at the college from 10am to 12.30pm. Students with an interest in sport and football can trial for a place on the Elite football team and for the cross-college team. Players will be interviewed for a place on the Sport Programme.
Coaches Andy Dorchell and ex-Boro player Mark Proctor will put students through their paces at the open day. Players will be coached and encouraged during the session as well as getting feedback on their performance during the day. Each student will be given specific, individual guidance on what to focus on ahead of the start of the football season.
“This is a great opportunity for student athletes and especially football players to develop their skills through the Premier Player Elite Football Academy whilst working towards a Level 2 or Level 3 sports qualification at college,” comments Coach Mark Proctor.
The course leads onto student opportunities for football trials with semi-professional and professional clubs, access to universities to study sport and career progression as a football or sports coach.
Mark Proctor adds: “The courses are fantastic and offer a tailored approach for individual sport students with skills and fitness sessions, individual strength, conditioning and nutrition programmes along with classroom-based learning around tactical sessions.
“We play weekly in college and also play regionally and nationally in competitions. It is a great offering for students who want a career in the sports industry. There’s plenty of practical experience as well as support whilst working towards a BTEC Level 2 or 3 sport qualification, whether students remain in the UK and go into the workplace or go on to university or head to the USA to study football further.
Students interested in attending are asked to bring outdoor and indoor kit and refreshments and for further enquiries contact adorchell@clevelnd.ac.uk or 0780 8658268 or @RCCsportFDC
