Future of Grindon parish to be considered

STOCKTON-ON-TEES Borough Council is carrying out a consultation about the future of Grindon Parish.

All registered local government electors living within Grindon Parish (including Grindon, Thorpe Thewles, The Elms and Wynyard) will be invited to give their views on whether the existing parish should be split into two separate parishes.

A recommendation to carry out a Community Governance Review was approved at a full meeting of Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council on Thursday, 15 December.

The decision to hold the review was prompted after Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council received a community governance petition requesting that the parish become two separate parishes.

The consultation period will run until 28 February and every registered local government elector will shortly receive a letter about the Community Governance Review. It will explain how they can take part and give their views, possible options and when the outcome of the review will be known.

The findings will be considered at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet and full Council meetings before consultation on the draft proposals is held later this year. The final recommendation and reasons for the decision will be published in summer 2017.
