A TRIO of students from Gateshead College have won the chance to have their fashion-inspired artwork displayed at one of Europe’s biggest shopping centres.
Budding artists, Sarah Hedley, 17, Sora Watanabe, 23, and Mia Kerridge, 16, beat the competition to have their column wrap artwork displayed at Intu Metrocentre, Gateshead, during the centre’s annual fashion event, Fashion Live.
The three designs, inspired by fashion and colour, are now displayed on the pillars next to the Fashion Live catwalk, in the centre’s Town Square.
The girls, who are all stage three Art and Design students from Gateshead College, also won a £100 intu Metrocentre gift card each and invitations for themselves and their families to the centre’s VIP Blogger Event, which was held on March 25.
“The standard of the designs entered into the competition were incredibly high and really highlighted some of the artistic talent in the region,” said marketing manager Helen Atkinson.
“The girls have been great to work with. It’s a brilliant opportunity for them to get their work seen and their designs look fantastic on the pillars next to the Fashion Live catwalk.”
Fashion Live is a four-day annual event run by intu Metrocentre in association with Hello! fashion monthly magazine.
This year’s event includes a number of fashion shows featuring clothes from the centre’s retailers, along with various family activities and events.
The shopping centre has also welcomed back The Big intu Clothes Drop in aid of Centrepoint, the UK’s leading charity for homeless young people.
The clothes drop will give fashionistas the chance to donate their pre-loved clothes to a good cause during the Fashion Live catwalk shows and get some inspiration from the new season’s trends.
Fashion Live 2015 will be held at intu Metrocentre until March 29.
