The North East’s biggest pop party on Friday 16 th December just got bigger. Announced today is the news that global superstar John Legend will be joining the already impressive line-up of acts performing at the Metro Radio Arena. Other names announced today include James Arthur and Louisa Johnson.
Multiple Grammy Award winner, John Legend, will be flying in from Ohio to deliver his modern classics like ‘All of me’.
2012 X Factor winner, James Arthur, will also take the stage before his ‘Back From The Edge’ tour commences next year. Fans will be sure to see him sing one of the biggest selling singles of the year, his number one hit ‘Say you won’t let go’ on the night.
Louisa Johnson, last year’s winner of X Factor, will also be gracing the audience with songs from her new album ‘So good’. The young artist has had an amazing year, and is sure to celebrate this at Christmas Live.
Commenting on the latest news, event promoter, Dom Munnelly said: “This is a great coup for us securing John Legend. There can’t be any event like this up here in the North East where you can see so many top performers all in one night. We’re still working on one more big name which we hope to announce next week. Having Olly Murs opening the show will get things off to a great start. · Olly Murs, one of British music’s biggest stars, has announced his eagerly anticipated 5th album ‘24 HRS’ out November 11th on RCA. The follow up to the million plus selling ‘Never Been Better’ will feature the Number 1 airplay hit ‘You Don’t Know Love’.
· Jonas Blue, born and raised in London and has so far taken the music industry by storm, implementing his musical cues in all of his undertakings. From pop to classic dance music, as well as delving into elements of tropical house.
Dua Lipa, an English singer from London who was just 19 years old when she found fame. She describes her musical style as "dark pop" and has a smoky style voice.
Calum Scott is an English-Canadian singer and songwriter who came to worldwide attention when he appeared as a contestant on the TV programme Britain's Got Talent in 2015.
MO is a Danish singer and songwriter, signed to Sony Music. MØ has been compared to electropop artists such as Grimes and Twin Shadow. Besides being an acronym for her middle and last name initials, the word mø means “maiden” or “Virgin” in Danish. Her debut studio album, “No Mythologies to Follow”, was released in March 2014.
Warming up the crowd on the night, and achieving life-long ambitions of performing on the big stage, are the regional winners of The Big Audition, Craig Roddam from Durham and Danielle Brown from Newcastle.
