Guisborough to get New Year deep clean

A WEEK-LONG deep clean as part of the ‘Love It’ campaign will see Guisborough start off 2017 on a fresh foot.

Starting on Monday 16 January, the deep cleans will focus on residential streets around Guisborough prior to a deep clean focussing on Westgate in the spring.

Works throughout the week will include road and pavement sweeping, litter picking, dealing with overgrown vegetation and cleaning out blocked drains & gulleys.

There will be some disruption to residents’ parking during the five days of cleaning with residents requested to park on other streets while theirs is the focus of work. Residents, or visitors, with a valid permit will be able to park free of charge in Reid Terrace car park, Patten Lane car park, Church Street car park and Walkers Row car park.

The activities in Guisborough come off the back of a successful December deep clean in Liverton Mines which saw volunteers, community groups and council staff come together under the ‘Love It’ banner for the benefit of the East Cleveland village.

Cllr Alec Brown, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, said: “The residential areas of Guisborough will benefit from the hard work of everyone involved in the Redcar and Cleveland Love It campaign. By getting community groups working together with assistance from council staff, the whole of the borough will have a stronger sense of pride in where they live.
