A powerful collection of high-performance cars, including Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Ferrari and Porsche, are making tracks for the next H&H Classics auction at an iconic motor venue.
The monstrous motors will be going under the hammer on Wednesday 25th June when H&H Classics holds its first ever auction at the historic Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedfordshire.
The eye-catching ensemble of modern classics and youngtimers date back to the early 1980s, through to the youngest high-performance entrant which is just 12 years old and has less than 30,000 miles on the odometer.
Damian Jones, Director at H&H Classics, said: “These high-performance motors couldn’t be more at home than at this famous automotive proving ground which has seen many awesome cars put through their paces over the years.”
All highly desirable, fast Ford fans will pay particular attention to a very special 1980 Ford Escort RS 2000, which has a reported 450 bhp on tap courtesy of a Harvey Gibbs-built Cosworth YB engine.
Estimated at £44,000-£48,000, it is built essentially as a lightweight rally car, and according to the vendor ‘to replicate the car today would be in excess of £80,000’.
The 1980s is also beautifully represented by a 1986 Ferrari 328 GTS. Instantly recognisable, the Targa-roofed model’s cult status was cemented by appearing on famous US television shows and blockbuster movies, making it a firm favourite still today.
Given a guide price of £60,000-£65,000, the example going under the hammer is supplied in the attractive colour scheme of Blanco over Rosso, and shows just over 42,000 miles on the odometer.
Meanwhile, memories of the 1990s come to life with three stunning examples from Porsche, Dodge and Aston Martin.
Estimated to fetch between £28,000-£34,000, a 1992 Porsche 944 S2 SE is one of only 14 ‘SE’ specification examples built to order by Porsche UK, and is now one of six known to have survived. A rare model, it was the subject of an intricate restoration in 2017 by marque specialists Rennsport, further adding to its appeal.
Collectors of American muscle cars will make a beeline for a 1995 Dodge Viper R/T 10 Roadster which was built to export specification for the European market, complete with a 320km/h speedometer. If that wasn’t enough, it shows just 9,000km from new and is estimated at £55,000-£65,000.
British high-performance aficionados of the 1990s will be spoilt with a 1997 Aston Martin Vantage V550, given a guide price of £140,000 – £170,000. A very special car capable of nearly 190mph, the example being offered is one of fewer than 239 made, but significantly is the sole example to be painted in special order McLaren Carbon Metallic so as to match the first owner’s McLaren F1 hypercar.
Last, but by no means least, is a 2013 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4. Italian styling is in abundance with this desirable end of production 2013 model year facelift specification car. Estimated at £65,000-£75,000, enthusiasts will be delighted by its attractive colour scheme of Nero Serapis metallic black with contrasting Arancio Borealis brake callipers and interior stitching.
Damian concluded: “It’s rare to see such a breadth of low-mileage, well-preserved performance cars all in one place. This auction is shaping up to be one of the highlights of our year – and I can think of few better places to hold it than at one of the UK’s most legendary testing grounds.”
