An inspirational Tees Valley-based charity is celebrating following the appointment of a new Education and Programme Co-ordinator.
High Tide Foundation, an organisation dedicated to offering young people industry-led, life changing career experiences, has appointed Joanna Friday to be responsible for designing, co-ordinating and evaluating the programmes the Foundation delivers.
With over 10 years of experience in the education industry, the qualified teacher will be an invaluable link between education and industry, supporting young people with advice and guidance; raising awareness of the breadth of opportunities available to them in the area.
Billingham-born Joanna previously moved away from the region to start her own business, returning last year after realising she missed the area. She said: “My husband and I have longed to be living back home for years and I am excited to be back.
“This role is an opportunity to work with an organisation that has a real impact and drives change; I couldn’t be more thrilled to be a part of it.”
With her experience in the education sector, Joanna is perfectly placed to support Tees Valley schools in meeting Gatsby benchmarks – specific requirements set out by the Government to ensure children leave school well-prepared for a career and the world of work – while also working with businesses in the region to inspire and develop their future workforce.
High Tide’s General Manager, Lauren Bywater, added: “Joanna has all the skills I was looking for and will be an invaluable member of the team. The education system is a very specific niche, so for her to have that existing knowledge is great.
“Joanna’s role will involve her working with education members and students, giving them support and direction. It’s fantastic to have her on board and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for High Tide.”
Joanna is looking to establish relationships with secondary schools and colleges across the Tees Valley. Those wishing to find out more about working with High Tide can contact her directly on jfriday@hightidefoundation.co.uk or 01642 233597.
