Hive bolsters brand team with two senior creatives

North East-based HR technology partner Hive has appointed two brand creatives in line with ambitious plans to market and scale the company in 2018.

Hive’s employee engagement platform is successfully helping organisations such as Topshop/Topman, Tarmac and On The Beach improve employee experience and the scaleup have decided to bolster the brand team to further extend their customer base.

Newly recruited Tim Murphy, Graphic Designer, and Charlotte Thornton, Content Writer, will be based in Hive’s Newcastle city-centre office and focused on developing the company’s brand identity and cross-channel marketing communications, both joining Hive from senior creative positions at established communications agencies.

Tim Murphy has relocated from Australia and brings a breadth of experience in brand identity, advertising and digital design. Tim’s previous roles include Senior Designer and Head of Digital Strategy at renowned Melbourne design agency Watts Design, who name Cadbury’s, Heinz and Nestle as clients.

Charlotte Thornton has developed content campaigns for a multitude of B2B and B2C businesses whilst working at award-winning London and North East agencies. In her most recent role at local communications agency Gardiner Richardson, she produced content for clients such as Grand Central Rail, Venator and the Royal Institute of British Architects.

Tim and Charlotte have started in their respective roles this summer and join Hive’s Head of Marketing, Victoria Myerscough, who was appointed in February 2018 to lead on strategic marketing and digital.

John Ryder, Hive Founder and CEO, has said: “We’re delighted to have Tim, Charlotte and Victoria on board to drive the Hive brand forward at a very exciting time for our business. We’ve partnered with some really fantastic companies in the last 12 months but need a strong and experienced marketing team to support our scaleup plans.”

Hive intend to increase the company headcount from 13 to 25 full-time employees by the end of 2018, having successfully raised over £500,000 via co-investment platform, GrowthFunders. The company are already attracting talent from outside of the region – offering flexible working hours and an unlimited holiday allowance – and will continue to focus their recruitment efforts in Customer Success, B2B Sales and Product Development.
