Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Hounds Set to Help Hospice

FOUR-LEGGED friends are invited to take part in an annual sponsored dog walk to raise funds for local charity St Cuthbert’s Hospice. Paws for a Cause will take place on Sunday 18th March at Riverside Park Chester-le-Street.

Two routes are available, either 1.5mile for little legs or senior dogs or a 3 mile route for pooches able to take on a little bit more of a challenge. All dogs signed up before Monday March 12th will receive a deluxe dog goodie bag, dog rosette and personalised completion certificate.

The day is set to be fun for both dogs and their humans as the morning will feature a fun dog show with categories including Prettiest Pooch, Handsome Hound, Happiest Dog, Best Fancy Dress and Most Like Owner. There will also be demonstrations from K9 Pawformers Dancing Dogs and Fun Fanatics Flyball Team, where dogs can try the fast paced sport for themselves.

Jade McArdle, Senior Community & Events Fundraiser, said: “Last year’s event was so much fun. We had over 180 dogs take part and it was great to see so many different breeds – all shapes and sizes.”

“We are proud to be pet friendly at St Cuthbert’s and often welcome along dogs to visit patients. We know how much it means to people to see their ‘best friend’. It’s great to be able to put together an event that our four-legged friends can take part in too.”

Registration for the walk is £10 per dog, humans go free!

Entry to the dog show is £1 per category.
