NORTH East house hunters keen to swap the city for the suburbs have turned their attention to the Tyne Valley.
More than 100 home buyers attended the unveiling of the show home at the new Willows Edge development, off Woodside Lane, Ryton, last weekend (Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 February).
And along with viewing the four bedroomed, detached, Denham property, they were able to seek advice on everything from conveyancing and styling to finance.
The development, by leading housebuilder Miller Homes North East, comprises 97 properties and, thanks to the success of the open event, almost 60 per cent of the three, four and five-bedroom homes are already sporting sold signs.
Phil Dougan, Sales Manager at Miller Homes North East, said visitor feedback showed that buyers were “definitely keen to live in a semi-rural location and that they loved everything the area had to offer.
“Not only has it got great amenities, such as schools and public transport services, but it couldn’t be in a better location,” he said.
“You’re only 15 minutes’ drive from Newcastle with the Metrocentre on your doorstep, but you are also surrounded by countryside with lovely walks along the river.”
To aid the buying process, experts from Safeguard Financial Services Ltd were on hand to offer free advice on the financial aspects of buying a new home and answer questions.
Representatives from Newcastle law firm Jacksons also attended the two-day free event to offer guidance on the legal process of house buying, while designers from Newcastle-based Q Interiors, who designed the show home , were handing out styling tips.
“The show home really illustrates the versatility of the properties within this development,” said Phil, “and, combined with their energy efficiency, it’s not surprising we’re seeing a lot of interest.”
A report, published recently by the Home Builders Federation, revealed that those who buy new build houses can save on average around £3100 a year on their energy bills.
“That really struck a chord with our visitors at the weekend,” said Phil, “and I would urge anyone who hasn’t been to take a look at the development yet to come along soon, as properties are being snapped up quickly.”
