Whether you are already pretty content or whether you have recently gone through a tough time, you always have the potential to live a happier life… and do not let anybody tell you otherwise!

Happiness looks and feels different for everyone, there is no doubting that. As a general rule of thumb, however, you should find yourself feeling a lot happier on a day-to-day basis if you put the advice laid out below into practice.

Here are two things you must do to live a happier life:

Change your habits

Whether you have realised this yet or not, your habits play a crucial role in your everyday happiness. The actions that you take, the things you say, and the way you treat yourself and others all have a direct impact on how happy you are in life.

If you want to be happier, you must start by changing your habits. Here are some of the daily habits that you might want to consider tweaking:

  • Smile more (it will cause the brain to release dopamine, which will ultimately make you feel a lot happier)
  • Exercise often
  • Get plenty of sleep
  • Eat with your mood in mind (certain foods can boost your spirits when you’re feeling low)
  • Be grateful for the people you own, everything that you own, and the opportunities you have in life
  • Give compliments like they are going out of fashion
  • Take some time to breathe deeply
  • Acknowledge and embrace the fact that you do have unhappy moments
  • Keep a journal of day-to-day life, even if you do not do anything that others might find interesting
  • Declutter your living environment and keep it tidy
  • See your friends regularly (even if you only manage to see them via video chat)
  • Plan your week and attempt to stick to that schedule as best you can
  • Ditch your phone for specific periods of the day
  • Spend more time outside embracing the wonders of nature
  • Explore the art of meditation

Stop stressing

If you want to get serious about lowering your stress levels, you have to seriously be open to the idea of accepting help from others. This could mean sharing your burdens with your partner, it could mean asking your parents for a bit of financial support, or it could mean entering into a Bad credit car leasing deal with a financing company so that you can finally afford the car that is going to make you happy. The type of level and support that you seek depends on your specific circumstances in life. Just make sure that you accept it when it is offered!

No matter what habits you embrace, you will never be able to live a truly happy life if you continuously let your stress get the better of you. If you’re to enjoy a happier, healthier, and more wholesome existence, you have to stop stressing as best you can. That is easier than done, of course, but it can be achieved if you face your stress triggers head-on and find a way to alleviate the pressure that you feel daily.
