Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

OVER the last three years Atlas Cloud has secured major investment and funding of £2.2m, to help grow and scale up the business. Atlas Cloud CEO Pete Watson talks future plans and where the business is headed.

Cloud solutions company Atlas Cloud has achieved 80% growth over the last 12 months. The Newcastle-based firm, which provides managed services such as hosted desktops and Hybrid cloud-based systems to SMEs, secured the funds needed from North East and London investors. The firm was supported by Tait Walker and Watson Burton.

Pete Watson, CEO of Atlas Cloud, said: “As a result of the cash injection into the business and lots of hard work from our team we have grown significantly in the last 12 months and we’re going to continue on this path and expand our services and expertise. We will be focusing on our core business solutions and our partnerships, with the likes of Microsoft, Citrix and Sage as we are the cloud partner for the UK and Ireland.

“The biggest challenge for any fast-growing business is people and culture. Finding the right people at the outset is a challenge for all businesses, but keeping those people as you grow should be the biggest priority. For us, it’s all about finding great people with great chemistry, people are the heart of our organisation and we want to be the employer of choice. It’s easier said than done but we like to give our team members the scope to be creative and entrepreneurial and make sure they know how they fit into the business and what is possible in their future at Atlas Cloud.

“We’re looking forward to continuing to grow the business and continue to work with great businesses in the region. We’ve added another 30% to our headcount over the last year and our main focus is to keep that talent, develop and add more to harness the talent and energy of all generations. I think there is a fair bit of stigma around the flexible working preference of millennials. I find that their enthusiasm and talent is great for business, especially one like ours where they already understand what we do and why it’s important to business growth. Be a little flexible and be the employer they choose to grow with.”

Chris McCourt, associate partner in the corporate finance team at Tait Walker, added: “Being able to support Atlas Cloud to achieve such a significant level of scale up has been an extremely rewarding experience. It’s been great to work with such a forward-thinking company and see their plans becoming a reality. It looks like there is lots more on the way as they continue to grow and we look forward to working with them going forward.”
