FOOD LOVERS have proven there’s a huge appetite for Sunderland Restaurant Week, after signing up for second helpings.

The event – organised by Sunderland BID – starts this Saturday (11 March) and was organised after the success of a similar event held last autumn.

More than 2500 vouchers to visit city restaurants and take advantage of a whole host of special offers have already been downloaded, beating the total number used last time round.

Restaurants, cafes and bars across the city and beyond are supporting the initiative, with many offering special menus with two courses for £10 and three for £15.

Asiana restaurant, the Karbon Grill at the Hilton Garden Inn, Egyptian restaurant Arabesque and Italian favourites D’Aqua and Angelo’s are among the most popular, with many people also wanting to try some of Sunderland’s newest eateries.

To make the event even more appealing, the BID has also teamed up with Station Taxis, to offer diners eating in participating restaurants a voucher to get £1 off their taxi ride.

“We are absolutely thrilled to see the support for our second Sunderland Restaurant Week,” said Gemma Dishman, Communications and Marketing Manager for the BID.

“We had an amazing response to the first event and it’s even better this time round.

“And the good news is there’s still plenty of time for people to download the vouchers and try out some superb restaurants.”
