A MULTI-AWARD winning North East cosmetic dentist’s reputation as one of the top practitioners in the UK has led to him seeing patients from around the globe.

Dr Ken Harris of Riveredge Cosmetic Dentistry – which has surgeries in both Sunderland and Newcastle – has a growing number of clients based overseas who think nothing of flying thousands of miles just to see him.

The multi-award winning dentist boasts patients from as far afield as America, Dubai and Bahrain, along with those who travel from across Europe, London, Ireland and Scotland to see him.

“Some of our overseas patients are from the North East but have moved abroad but don’t want to see anyone else,” said Dr Harris.

“So they don’t have a problem of flying here to see me for their appointments. Other patients come to us on recommendation and again, don’t mind making the journey to be seen by someone they have confidence in.

“When it comes to the dentist, a lot of people still have huge reservations and fears, and they like to find someone they can trust.

“It is incredible to think that there are dozens of regular clients who will board a flight in the Middle East and fly here just for an appointment.”

Dr Harris is one of the country’s most respected cosmetic dentists and boasts 35 years of experience in his field. He has won numerous awards over the years, holds an MSc in Restorative & Aesthetic Dentistry and is a Fellow of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

He is also a member of the AACD (American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry) and acts as clinical director for the California Center of Advanced Dental Studies.

His work in America has led him to become the number one choice for American ex-pats, with several top US dentists recommending him to their clients.

“I find there is an increasing number of dentists in the USA who recommend patients who move to London to work to travel up to the North East to see us after they have heard me teach in the US.

“It seems Americans do worry about the standard of UK dentistry and they think nothing of travelling 300 miles for a dental appointment.

“It’s always fantastic when any client comes back because you know it shows a level of trust and satisfaction, but when they’re coming back all the way from somewhere like Dubai or Bahrain, then you know you’re doing a good job,” he added.
