Foodies and high-flyers can experience a taste of the Mediterranean at Fratello’s this summer, as the restaurant has launched an Italian afternoon tea menu inspired by the country’s authentic flavours.
Sitting within DoubleTree by Hilton Newcastle Airport, diners will be taken on a tour of Italy without leaving their seats, as cultural dishes replace the traditional options found on a British afternoon tea menu.
Whether diners are en route to an Italian destination, have just stepped off a plane or live locally to the restaurant, they can treat their taste buds to both sweet and savoury delicacies usually found overseas.
As an added bonus for anyone jetting off to Italy from Newcastle Airport, passengers can enjoy a complimentary cocktail with Italian afternoon tea by simply showing their boarding pass if travelling the same day.
The new arrival’s menu includes Smoked Cheddar and Parmesan Arancini with Saffron Aioli, Marinated Tomato and Basil Bruschetta and an array of delicate finger sandwiches with fillings comprising Tuscan Sausage, Roast Chicken, Salmon, and Mascarpone and Cucumber.
Afternoon tea wouldn’t be complete without scones, which are served with clotted cream and strawberry jam, alongside desserts such as Tiramisu Shooters, Apple Jam and Blueberry Crumble Tartlet and Triple Chocolate and Fudge Semifredo.
A pot of tea or coffee is also served, and there’s the option to upgrade to have a Prosecco or cocktail accompaniment.
Fratello’s Italian afternoon tea is priced at £25 including tea or coffee, £32 with Prosecco or £35 with a classic cocktail, all based on two people sharing.
