J&B Recycling goes from strength to strength

J&B Recycling one of the UKs leading general waste recyclers today announced further growth in its North East operations.

Following the recent Corporate Livewire award wins where the company were recognised as the “most outstanding in recycling solutions”, the Hartlepool based firm has created eight new roles and promoted three current employees to new positions as its growth continues.

Strong foundations

In 2003 J&B won its first recycling contract and in the following years it went on to win contracts right across the UK. In 2014 J&B received £7m from the Business Growth Fund that it used to invest in new machinery at its Hartlepool site.

Today the company has 21 vehicles, over 200 members of staff and recycles 170,000 tonnes of materials annually across three sites in Hartlepool and Middlesbrough and has achieved an increase in turnover by 41% to £13.5m.

Vicki Jackson-Smith, Managing Director of J&B Recycling, said: “In 2017 we are looking to build upon the success we’ve seen and are identifying potential new development areas that could lead to further growth in staff and turnover.

J&Bs growing portfolio includes leading names such as Nifco UK, Lidl and UK Steel Enterprise as well as many high profile national and regional businesses.

A growing J&B family

These new positions are part of J&B’s stretegy to improve employee advancement and development and improve the workplace for current and future employees.

Sarah Jennsion, initially a part-time employee, is now full time in her new role as a Weighbridge Supervisor. Sarah has been at J&B Recycling for 8 years and was originally employed as a Weighbridge Operator. In her time at J&B she has worked in the transport office as well as in administration.

Craig Flounders, was originally employed as a Quality Inspector in November 2015, he has been promoted to Banksman /Quality Control Supervisor. He said, “I’m so happy to be given the opportunity to take on more responsibilities within J&B. I hope that in my time here I can keep improving and advancing.’

Clare Bradley has expanded her role in Customer Services. She now also works within the quality control aspect of the business. Clare said, “I joined 8 years ago as Customer Services Executive and my promotion to Customer Services and Quality Control Representative is a fantastic reward.

“Throughout my time the senior team have supported and encouraged me to take on new duties and it’s a great feeling knowing they have faith in my abilities.”

Anne White, Human Resources Manager said, “Here at J&B, we believe in promoting from within the company where possible and Claire, Sarah and Craig have all shown commitment and excellence in not only their roles but by taking on additional tasks and developing new skills.”
