Thirteen has secured the go-ahead for Boho Zone North to be built on land south of Gosford Street.
The development will include 40 apartments in the high profile Middlehaven regeneration area of Middlesbrough, with work to start in early 2020.
Boho Zone North is perfectly placed to take advantage of the Boho Zone, the ‘Boro’s thriving digital, creative and business hub.’
Already this innovative quarter is the setting for businesses ranging from incubating small, residential-based start-ups through to multimillion-pound turnover enterprises.
At the Boho Zone people enjoy networking opportunities to rub shoulders and generate ideas with like-minded people. It also offers advanced facilities including ultra-fast broadband.
Chris Smith, Thirteen’s executive director of service delivery and development, said: “This fantastic new building provides modern, flexible accommodation for people to work or study from home.
“The highest eco-standards and 21st century design will create an affordable, contemporary development where Boho Zone North residents can significantly reduce bills and their carbon footprint.
“Local people have helped shape the plans during community consultations and the feedback from everyone has been incredibly positive and we believe the development will add to the Boho Zone’s growing national reputation.
“If the North is to shine in the digital future, Boho Zone North is the beacon. We’re proud to be a part of it.”
Middlesbrough Mayor Andy Preston said: “This is brilliant news for Middlesbrough and another step towards becoming the UK’s digital city.”
