Golfers from around the North East went head-to-head last week to help support the region’s oldest children’s charity.
The Children North East Golf Day took place on a gloriously sunny Tuesday 9th May at Close House, one of the North East’s most challenging courses which will be hosting the British Masters in September 2017.
The friendly tournament attracted golfers of all standards playing in teams of four.  A team from Turner & Townsend beat twelve other corporate teams to win the day’s top prize of the Children North East Tournament Trophy, Champagne and a complimentary round of golf at Close House.
Carol Taylor, Senior Fundraiser at Children North East, said: “Thank you to all the players who took part and made this day such a success.  I’m pleased to announce the income from the day was over £9,000 – an absolutely fantastic amount.”
“A huge thank you also to Wylam Garage for sponsoring our Hole in One Competition on Hole 10.  It wasn’t a lucky day for any of our golfers, but they certainly had a lot of fun trying!”
