Geoffrey Robinson Ltd, a family owned business in Billingham has recorded a 30% increase in turnover in the third quarter of 2018.

The full service mechanical and electrical building services company, have traded from offices in the North East since 1971, and currently boasts a strong region-wide workforce of almost 130 employees as well as working in partnership subcontracting local companies to work alongside them.

This news is welcomed by Managing Director, Neal Robinson, who took over the reins from his father, Geoffrey Robinson four years ago. “This impressive third-quarter growth is a testament to the hard work and determination of the entire team.

“The collapse of Carillion earlier this year had an impact on the business as it resulted in the loss of some contracts and unpaid debt but we have been able to overcome this through the commitment and resilience of the team.”

The company has built up a strong reputation as a trusted name in healthcare, education, blue light, commercial and industrial sectors through offering services that cover all aspects of mechanical and electrical engineering having worked on projects at James Cook University Hospital, Newcastle City Pool, Turkish Baths and the former General Post Office in Hartlepool.

To build on the company’s recent growth strategy, it has announced the appointment of Paul Walker as Operations Director. Paul joined the company in 1990 as a Junior Pipe Fitter, working his way up to Site Foreman before been offered the post of Contracts Manager in 2015.

Neal added, “We truly are a family business with family values, and this is reflected in the fact that we have members of the team that have been with us for decades, and we are now employing their offspring.

“Paul is an example of this, and over the years he has shown great commitment and enthusiasm to the business, which has most definitely contributed to our success.  The Board of Directors were thrilled when he accepted the role, and we look forward to working with him for many years to come.”

In readiness for further growth next year Geoffrey Robinson Ltd is embarking on a recruitment drive and is looking to fill open positions for skilled commercial maintenance engineers at its Billingham head office.

Having made a significant investment in its brand, the company is also gearing up to make a transformational change with the launch of a refreshed brand identity and a new website over the coming weeks. Aspects of the brand rollout have already begun with new signage and vehicle livery installed.
