North East solicitors Bindman & Co is investing in the next generation of legal professionals in their region.
The solicitors recently welcomed two local apprentices to their business, and have provided a Law Training Contract for one member of staff. In a competitive industry with high entry requirements, Bindman’s commitment to staff development is helping to train the region’s next wave of legal professionals.
Louise Yabsley was already a conveyancer at the company and with Bindman & Co’s support, will complete her Legal Professional Course (LPC) at local university, Northumbria University. She will complete the course on a part-time basis, splitting her time between working and studying.
Louise said: “I’m really enjoying taking my career to the next level. I’ve worked in conveyancing for years, but doing the LPC and period of recognised training at Bindman Solicitors gives me more qualifications to support it. It’s a challenge to study and work at the same time, but it’ll be worth it in the end!”
The company’s latest recruits are apprentices Thomas Joyce and Alisha Watson. Working across the Bindman offices, the pair are both studying Business Admin apprenticeships. Once complete, Thomas will continue his training with Bindman, undertaking official paralegal training.
Bindman Solicitors have enjoyed almost four decades of success in the region and currently have two offices, one in Wickham, Newcastle, and one in Gateshead. They are specialists in commercial and residential conveyancing, will writing, powers of attorney and trusts and probate, alongside other general law practices.
Their commitment to supporting emerging talent is the company’s way of giving back to the region, following their many years of success. Les Bindman, the company’s Senior Partner, graduated from Newcastle University in 1972, became a qualified lawyer in 1975 and has been practicing law in the region ever since.
Speaking of Bindman & Co’s commitment to training and development, Les said: “For years the North East has been my home, and I have had the pleasure of working in the region for over four decades. With this in mind, it felt very important to me that I could give something back. There are so many talented individuals in the region, I feel lucky that we’re able to help further the careers of some of them.”
