Matz Sels Out to France

Goalkeeper Matz Sels has completed a permanent move to French side Strasbourg.

The 26-year-old joins the Ligue 1 outfit for an undisclosed fee after a two-year spell at St. James’ Park.

Sels initially joined the Magpies from Gent in June 2016, going on to make a total of 14 appearances for United, which all came in his first season at the club.

The Belgian international spent the entirety of last season on loan at Anderlecht, where he won the Belgian Super Cup. He featured in Newcastle’s 2-0 pre-season win over St. Patrick’s Athletic last week before completing his permanent switch to the Stade de la Meinau ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.
