Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Meet your detectives, encourage police

Police are encouraging people to meet detectives at a set of community safety roadshows.

Durham Constabulary want members of the public to meet their local criminal investigation department (CID) and specialist detectives.

They are hosting five crime prevention and community safety events at venues across Peterlee and Seaham.

Temporary Detective Chief Inspector, Paul Gray from North CID, said: “This is an opportunity for people to meet their local detectives. These are the individuals who investigate crime and protect vulnerable people.

“We will be on hand to talk about local issues, offer practical tips and information on preventing crime and staying safe, and we will provide specialist advice around community matters, online fraud, cyber-crime, drug and alcohol harm and hate crime.

“These roadshows are about engaging with the people who we are here to keep safe and listening to what they would like us to do for them.”

The first event takes place tomorrow at the Lisa Dixon Centre in Haswell from 5pm-8pm. Following venues and dates include Horden Youth Community Centre on October 10, Shotton Community Centre on October 18, Seaham Youth Centre on October 26 and Easington Welfare Centre on October 30. All events take place between 5pm-8pm.

A range of free crime prevention tools and devices will be available to take away on the day.
