Moody Logistics and Storage recognised at national industry awards

Northumberland-based Moody Logistics and Storage is celebrating its success at the Amazon Everywoman in Transport & Logistics Awards for a second time in two years.

Cheralyn Roden, the family-run firm’s digital marketing coordinator won the Above and Beyond category in the 2022 Freight Awards in recognition of the innovation and excellence she brings to her role.

The mother-of-two, from Cramlington, was one of 16 winners designed to highlight the breadth of opportunities available for women in what is a traditionally male dominated industry.

Just two years ago her boss, managing director Caroline Moody, picked up the Freight Leader award in recognition of her positive contribution to the sector

Cheralyn, who is responsible for promoting the business, was instrumental in highlighting its in-house HGV driver apprenticeship scheme – successfully bringing it to the attention of the Department of Transport, which then featured it in a nationwide campaign encouraging people to consider a career as a lorry driver.

The judges said her success was due to her ability to embed herself across all areas of the business and praised her initiatives in raising the profile of the industry in local schools.

Attending the recent awards ceremony in London with Caroline Moody, Cheralyn said she was “stunned” when she was announced the winner.

“It is a real honour to receive the Above and Beyond award, given the talent of the others who were also shortlisted. I’m passionate about promoting Moody Logistics and Storage and it’s fantastic to have your work recognised by your peers.”

Moody Logistics and Storage – which this year celebrates its 75th anniversary – employs 52 people and operates a fleet of 32 vehicles from its base at Bolam Business Park, Cramlington.

Caroline Moody added: “Cheralyn fully deserves this award for her work in not only promoting this business but the wider logistics sector.

“This is the second time in two years that Moody Logistics and Storage has been a winner at these prestigious awards, and it is heartening that a relatively small family-run company can be recognised for its innovation and success on the national stage.”
