The latest in shinobicontrols’ annual series of blogs, lifting the lid on the intricacies of Apple’s latest operating system, is to launch in the coming days.
The series of in-depth posts examining iOS 10 will start with its Messages framework, after Apple announced the new operating system at last month’s Worldwide Developer’s Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco.
Now on its fourth instalment, previous shinobicontrols’ Day by Day series, starting with iOS 7, have attracted a great level of interest from the community, with more than 650,000 page views and thousands upon thousands downloading the free ebook that’s usually given away at the end of each series.
It’s intended that shinobicontrols’ technical evangelist Sam Burnstone will post regularly over a number of weeks, covering the most significant of the Application Programme Interface (API) improvements and new features of iOS 10, which will be fully launched to market later this year after beta testing.
Sam said: “Over the years the iOS Day by Day blog series’ have become real community affairs, so I’d also welcome any suggestions for topics the developer community would like me to look at.
“I’m looking forward to helping novice and experienced developers alike get to grips with iOS 10 ahead of its full launch, so they can make the most of it without losing any time. We aim to make this content as straightforward and practical as possible, so each post will include working sample code that will be pushed to our GitHub account.”
Introducing features with enough detail to provide developers with a platform on which to build their knowledge, posts will provide sample projects so developers can see how each feature operates, alongside advice and analysis from Sam that will address important future considerations, potential pitfalls to avoid, some of the problems he’s encountered and the lessons learned from them.
The series was originally created to help time-poor developers make the most of the latest technology without having to wade through countless video tutorials and instruction documents.
shinobicontrols’ Chief Operating Officer Stuart Grey added: “The app development environment is highly collaborative and we’re pleased to be able to contribute straightforward and practical content to such an engaged community. We’re glad these blogs have proved to be genuinely helpful and looking ahead, we hope to be able to launch the iOS 10 ebook in due course.”
