Newcastle-based marine insurer North P&I Club has announced today that Alan Wilson will step down from his role as Joint Managing Director with effect from 1 May 2018.
Alan, who has been at the company for 37 years, will continue as an Executive Director of both North of England P&I and Sunderland Marine and will provide general support to North’s leadership team, working two days a week in the Newcastle office.
In making his decision Alan commented: “My decision to step-down this year has not been an easy one, but now is the right time for me to make this change personally and professionally. I am extraordinarily proud of what the Club has accomplished since I joined North in 1981. I look forward to continuing to work alongside our tremendous leadership team as Executive Director.”
In consultation with North’s Chairman and Board of Directors, it has been agreed that with effect from 1 May 2018 Paul Jennings will take on the role of Chief Executive Officer with North. Paul joined North in 1998 and has been involved in the marine insurance industry for over 30 years. In addition to his current role of Joint Managing Director, Paul is also Chairman of the Reinsurance Sub-Committee for the International Group of P&I Clubs, representing the interests of over 90 per cent of the world’s merchant shipping.
