Leading housebuilder, David Wilson Homes North East, has committed to an additional £2.5 million to the Nunthorpe economy, following the launch of its Grey Towers Village development. This contribution follows an initial £4million contribution made in March this year. Across the next three years, over £12 million in total will have been invested, all of which will go into improving a range of facilities in the area.
The funding, which is part of planning agreements with Middlesbrough Borough Council, has been spread across a variety of services in the area. A further £2million has been committed towards affordable housing bringing the total invested to £6million, and further investment will see improvements to the highway in the local strategic road network, and enhancement of the public green space at Nunthorpe Park.
Neil Milburn, Development Director at Barratt Developments North East, commented: “We believe it is crucial to support the communities in which we build, and to give back to the local area. We hope that the contributions that we have made already and the additional investment across the next three years will go a long way towards improving the lives of the people who live in the area, as this is very important to us.”
