MEMBERS of the public are being asked for their views on a new park in Nunthorpe.
Senior Middlesbrough Councillors attended the latest consultation event on the proposals on Tuesday (February 17), and are urging local people to have their say.
Three hectares of land to the south of Guisborough Road are set to be developed as a public open space as part of the town’s recently adopted Housing Local Plan.
The outdoor amenity, equipment and facilities will be funded through money from the nearby Grey Towers Village housing development.
The Nunthorpe Resident Steering Group – consisting of ward councillors, community council, parish councillors and local residents – has been working with Middlesbrough Council on the initial plans.
On Tuesday, local ward Councillor Brenda Thompson was joined at the site by Deputy Mayor Dave Budd, Executive Member for Regeneration Cllr Charlie Rooney and members of the local parish and community councils.
Following their site visit the group then attended the latest consultation event at Nunthorpe Methodist Church.
Cllr Thompson said: “This is a brilliant opportunity to create a new open space in Nunthorpe, so it’s vital that local people are involved at every stage of the process.
“Residents, local councillors and Middlesbrough Council have worked closely over the last few months to draw up an exciting scheme, and we now want to hear as many people’s views as possible on it.”
Drop-in sessions are being held every Tuesday throughout February between 10am and 12.30pm at Nunthorpe Methodist Church, when Steering Group members a Council officer will be on hand to answer any questions.
Ward councillor surgeries will held at the Nunthorpe Institute on Mondays throughout February from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.
