The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of Friday 17 November but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.
A1 junction 56 Barton to junction 51 Leeming Bar, North Yorkshire
There will be narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction 24 hours a day from junction 52 (Catterick) to junction 56 (Barton) to upgrade the road to motorway standards. There will be full overnight closures and convoy working at Scotch Corner roundabout and lane closures on the southbound exit slip road at junction 56 from Monday 20 November to Sunday 26 November from 8pm until 6am. Clearly signed diversions will be in place. This project is due for completion by winter 2017/2018.
A19 Silverlink, North Tyneside
There will be overnight carriageway closures northbound between Silverlink roundabout and the Holystone junction and the entry and exit slip roads on the A1058 eastbound carriageway will also be closed from 8pm until 6am from Wednesday 22 to Friday 24 November with diversions in place. There will also be a 24 hour 30mph speed restriction with narrow lanes. This project is due for completion in March 2019.
A1 Detchant Junction to Beal Junction, Northumberland
We will be repairing parts of the carriageway between the two junctions from Monday 13 November until Saturday 2 December. Work will be carried out between 8pm and 6am, although no work will take place on Sunday evenings. There will be overnight traffic signals with a 10mph speed limit at various locations between the two junctions, with traffic being led through the roadworks in convoy by a contractor’s vehicle. There will be a 40mph speed limit in place on the approach to the signals.
A1 Highfields to the Scottish border
We will be carrying out drainage work on the A1 north of Berwick upon Tweed from Monday 20 November. The work will be carried out between 7am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. There will be a 50mph speed limit in place with only one lane open between the Highfields roundabout and the Scottish border laybys. The inside lane will be closed on the northbound carriageway from Monday 20 November until Friday 1 December and southbound from Monday 4 until Friday 8 December. The overtaking lanes in both directions will be closed from Monday 11 December until Friday 15 December. These restrictions will be in place 24 hours a day. The project is due to be completed by Friday 15 December.
A66 Stockton
There will be phases of overnight carriageway and lane closures from Monday 20 November until mid January 2018. Clearly signed diversions will be in place from Yarm Road to Teesside Park between 8pm and 6am. The works are to improve the white lining, signing, resurfacing and also to removal vegetation.
