Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Primary pupils enjoy poetry

its annual poetry competition for pupils, in which children were encouraged to learn poems before reciting them in class.

Winners were then chosen from each class to read their poems in front of the whole school at the competition final, where their efforts were judged by chairman of governors Elaine Holmes and Park View School teacher Julie Gibson.

Overall winners were Daniel Naughton and Willow Horrocks, who each received a book of poetry and a certificate.

School deputy headteacher Emma Dunn said: “As always, the competition was a huge success and all of the children thoroughly enjoyed the event.

“We hope this will begin to instil in them a love of poetry and encourage them to read poems for pleasure in future.”
