Decorated medical professor, Lord Robert Winston, is to deliver a scientific masterclass when he visits Yarm School’s Princess Alexandra Auditorium.
The life peer, who sits on the Labour Party benches in the House of Lords and is a well-known TV personality, is to give a talk on genetics, titled: ‘Modifying Humans: Where Does Genetics Stop?’ in April.
The event, which is to take place on April 20th 2017 at 7.30pm, will explore the advances in gene technology and the ethical considerations for modifying genes within humans, which is already commonplace in animals.
Professor Winston will also give an insight into his interesting and significant career, having been awarded many prestigious awards and honours, as well as holding various posts within science, politics and education.
David Dunn, Headmaster of Yarm School, said: “Robert Winston is one of the world’s most recognised scientists and medical professors and his visit is a real coup.
“The subject of his talk is absolutely fascinating and will hold a great appeal across the spectrum, not only to medical and scientific professionals but to the wider public.
“We are looking forward to welcoming Robert Winston to Yarm, in what will be one of the Princess Alexandra Auditorium’s flagship events for 2017.”
