BARKER and Stonehouse has thrown its weight behind the Positively Stockton-on-Tees campaign’s monthly prize giveaway with the donation of a £1,000 to spend in store.
The donation follows hot on the heels of the opening of Barker and Stonehouse’s flagship £4.5million store at Teesside Retail Park.
The Positively Stockton-on-Tees campaign was launched as a light-hearted response to Channel 4’s Benefits Street being filmed in the Borough.
It encourages people across the region and beyond to show their love for Stockton-on-Tees by sharing photographs, videos and stories online.
The prize will be won by whoever is judged to have made the best contribution to the campaign during May.
James Barker, Managing Director at Barker and Stonehouse, said: “At Barker and Stonehouse we’re proud of our Stockton roots and have recently returned to the borough with our new head office and store, so it’s a pleasure to support the Positively Stockton campaign.”
Leader of Stockton Council, Councillor Bob Cook, said: “We started the monthly prize giveaway in January using prizes donated by local businesses because so many were desperate to get involved in this celebration of all that is good about our Borough.
“We really appreciate so many businesses supporting the campaign – it’s a clear reflection of how great our Borough’s businesses are and we’re really grateful to Barker and Stonehouse for their generous donation.
“Barker and Stonehouse is one of our most famous local businesses – the firm was founded in Stockton in 1946 – and their involvement is a sign of how the campaign just keeps growing and growing. We couldn’t be happier to have them on board!”
