Newcastle-based technology recruitment specialist, Frank Recruitment Group, will be hosting a charity golf event this month to raise money for St Martin’s School in Nairobi.
The fundraising event, taking place at Northumberland Golf Club on Friday 16 August, is one in a long list of charity initiatives organised by the recruiter to raise money for St Martin’s.
Earlier this year, £11,000 was raised as part of the company’s annual ‘Sales Day’ fundraiser, while employees have taken individual responsibility for fundraising in the form of sponsored runs, charity rock gigs, and arts and craft sales.
Frank Recruitment Group senior management staff travelled to Kenya in July to see St Martin’s School close up, as well as to launch several new initiatives facilitated by the extensive fundraising; a dedicated IT teacher will now be employed by the school, with 25 new laptops installed and connected to the internet for pupils to use.
The company has also committed to funding the Saturday Kitchen Programme. Every Saturday, the school opens its gates to approximately 2,000 children in the community, enabling every child in the Kibagare slum to be fed a hot meal (for many kids, this will be the only hot meal they have that week).
A group of employees will be returning to Kenya in September to host a sports day, various IT workshops, and to officially launch a new e-mentoring programme in which Frank Recruitment Group employees will sign up to become mentors to the children. With a lot of fantastic work in the pipeline, it’s no surprise to see the recruiter take such a proactive and enthusiastic approach to fundraising.
Frank Recruitment Group’s charity golf day includes 18 holes of golf, an afternoon buffet, player prizes and competitions throughout the day. The entry fee is £50pp and you can get involved by emailing: mark.emmerson@jeffersonfrank.com
