People living in the East Shields and Whitburn areas of South Tyneside can find out more about the future of the Borough’s town and villages when their local area forum meets on Thursday 2 June.
Members of the Forum will receive a presentation on the Council’s Strategic Land Review which will inform the new Local Plan, which will determine development over the next 20-25 years.
The review will outlines which land may be suitable for possible future development. The Local Plan will then identify where new homes, businesses, shops and leisure facilities will be built, while protecting the South Tyneside’s countryside, open spaces and historic environment.
Councillor Neil Maxwell, Chairman of the East Shields and Whitburn Community Area Forum, said: “Our ambition is for South Tyneside to be an outstanding place to live, invest and bring up families.
“The Council’s Strategic Land Review will set out future development in the Borough so I would encourage residents to come along and find out more about the Council’s Strategic Land Review and to have their say on the future of our homes and jobs.”
Members of the press and public are welcome to attend the meeting which takes place at 6pm, on Thursday 2 June, at St Gregory’s Church Hall.
