8th January 2025 – Subaru UK enjoyed another successful year in 2024 with sustained levels of sales, as the brand continues to strengthen its position in the UK market.
The latest SMMT annual results show that the company recorded a 0.4% year-on-year growth for sales, with 2,419 vehicles finding new homes in 2024, in spite of challenges posed by production constraints. 2024 was also a year in which the brand passed the historic milestone of 250,000 all-time sales in the UK market, and came out on top in the annual Auto Express Driver Power survey of owners.
2024’s best performer was the award-winning Subaru Outback, which made up close to one-third of sales (31%). The model, which spawned the crossover Estate segment three decades ago, continued to win fans with its enduring mix of attributes, combining ‘go-anywhere’ off-road capability with sector-leading practicality and dependability. Elsewhere, the Forester SUV remained a strong performer, accounting for 28% of sales.
The all-electric Solterra also reached new heights, representing 19% mix of sales, its highest sales mix-split since launch. The popularity of the Solterra resulted in the product line selling out towards the end of 2024. Sales of the all-electric Solterra fell in line with overall industry proportion of Battery-Electric Vehicles (BEV) sales, which finished 2024 at 19.6%, according to the latest report from the SMMT.
Subaru’s 2024 sales were split across powertrain types, with an increased shift towards Electrification. In addition to the 19% of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) registered, (BEV) a further 51% of cars were powered by mild-hybrid powertrains.
Lorraine Bishton, Subaru UK Managing Director, said: “Our 2024 results demonstrate another strong year for Subaru UK, during a period that has been, and continues to be, a challenging time for the UK industry. These figures show the genuine appeal of our multi-award winning model range which combines dependability, safety and fun – whichever powertrain option a customer chooses.
“I want to take this opportunity to pay tribute to our retailers around the country. They have been central to our success, consistently going above and beyond to make a difference to customers.
“The successes of 2024 provide the perfect platform for a significant year ahead for our brand, with more exciting news to share in the coming months.”
