STOCKTON Borough’s youngest entrepreneurs will be testing their trade at a special Youth Market next Saturday, 19 March.
In 2015 children from schools and colleges across the Borough were invited to join Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Young Business Club as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week.
The aspiring students were offered an opportunity to apply for up to £50 toward the cost of starting up their own business and receive a trading spot at the Youth Market.
On Saturday 19 March the successful applicants will be on Stockton High Street from 11am to 4pmwhere they will be selling a variety of unique, handcrafted goods which range from wooden garden furniture, to sweet treats including chocolate covered marshmallows, and handmade fashion and hair accessories.
Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Transport, Councillor Nigel Cooke, said: “The Young Business Club has been the perfect opportunity for our young people to access support and advice about starting a business.
“Events like the Youth Market help to give them a taste of what it could be like to run their own business while also developing their skills, confidence, and encouraging enterprise at a young age. Why not come along on Saturday to show your support and purchase something for yourself or as a special gift?”
Members of the Young Business Club have also collaborated with local film production company SRC Infinity Productions to promote the market through a series of short films. The company is run by students from Stockton Riverside College, who will also be at the Youth Market on Saturday to capture the day through their lenses.
