Table Topping Start to new Season
The 2018/19 season National Junior League (under 18) got underway last weekend with Bishop Auckland fielding one of the youngest sides in the event consisting of 11-year-old Ben Mold, 13 year old Luke Mitchell along with 14 year old Sean Stobart and Juniors, Hayden Gilmour and Matthew Pearson both 16.
First up was Darlington Academy, Ben Mold came away with his hat trick of wins with Matty Pearson winning two and Hayden Gilmour also two wins in a 7-2 win.
Next up for the team was Ormesby A, which saw an 8-1 victory for the boys with Luke Mitchell and Hayden Gilmour both picking up hat tricks and Ben Mold losing out in his first match in a 5th set.
Following the match was Ormesby B, a 9-0-win saw Luke, Ben and Sean all pick up maximums
The final match of the day was against last year runners up Northumbria, the match started well for Bishop winning the 1st two matches before Northumbria won the next 5 to make it impossible for Bishop to win however the boys fought back to finish 5-4 to Northumbria. With Luke Mitchell getting two and one win each for Sean and Hayden.
With each match worth 9 points, the Bishop team are currently 12 points clear at the top but Northumbria have a game in hand going into the next set of fixtures.
