A pop-up summer-long experience is set to open its doors on Gateshead Quays this coming Tuesday (29 April), allowing visitors to make the most of the incredible vista along the Tyne and looking back at Newcastle.
Summer On The Southside will open on the terrace of the By The River Brew Co. site which closed in September.
Exciting plans were unveiled recently for a new leisure and event space to be created at the former container hub. While these plans are in development the terrace will prove the perfect spot to visit during the spring and summer months.
Summer on The Southside is being activated by the team behind HWKRLAND that was based at By The River Brew Co. using all of their experience to bring together the best in street food, craft beer and cocktails.
Throughout the week the terrace will be open for quality coffee, tea and hand-crafted doughnuts, courtesy of Deep North, with Parmorama on site to serve up their award-winning chicken wings, chicken burgers and their namesake parmos.
There will also be a guest food trader each weekend.
Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy great food and drink with unparalleled views.
Summer on the South Side will be pet and family friendly and will run until late September. It will open Monday to Friday from midday until late and on Saturday and Sundays from 8.30am until late.
Stuart Nurse, one of the team behind the venture, said it was the perfect time to open.
“After an amazing summer last year reopening the infamous street food market as HWKRLAND we are excited to return to activate this incredible al fresco space,” he said.
“While the amazing long-term plans for the site are on-going, we couldn’t resist the opportunity to re-open the terrace, because it is such a fantastic spot that people love to enjoy.”
