Award-winning business TaperedPlus has hit the ground running in its first five years and to celebrate success, the company wanted to put its charity efforts behind a local cause.
Set up in 2014, TaperedPlus, with its head office in Stockton, provides insulation for flat roofs and has become the leading independent provider in the UK.
Staff have always been keen on charity fundraising but this year they wanted to pool their efforts and get involved much more closely with a chosen charity.
Donna Wilson, commercial manager, said ‘We chose Daisy Chain because like us it is local, is a hugely important cause supporting families in the local area affected by autism and therefore something we felt we could really get behind. We want to do more than fundraising, we want to really get involved with our Charity of the Year.’
And the team have wasted no time – there is already a Team TaperedPlus of five training hard for the Simplyhealth Great North Run in September, tickets booked for the Lobster Ball at Hardwick Hall Hotel and plans to volunteer at the annual Daisy Chain Open Day on May 6th Bank Holiday Monday.
Donna explains, ‘We have seen the difficulties people face with autism and what Daisy Chain does to support them. We all thought that was amazing and we wanted to help.
TaperedPlus Limited was launched by Robert Vass and Aman Chahal following over 15 years experience in the flat roofing Industry. It has its head office at Preston Farm and an office serving the south of the UK in Wolverhampton.
Aman has joined Daisy Chain’s corporate networking group Friends of Daisy Chain and the company is also hoping to involve its customers and suppliers in helping them to support their charity of the Year.
Because the team is on two sites, they are hoping that being able to get involved with volunteer days, helping out at the Daisy Chain farm or at the charity Superstore, will help them with team building.
Donna says, ‘We do love doing things together as a team but it is usually entertainment based whereas it will be good to do something different. Rob and Aman are very keen that we get involved with the community and can give something back and do something that benefits the community.
‘Plus, the staff based in Wolverhampton love coming to Teesside, especially when they can indulge in our local delicacy – the Parmo.’
