A North East family owned fit out business based in High Spen, Tyne and Wear is breaking the mould when it comes to diversity in the team.

Traditionally a male dominated industry, Rosebirch has a high number of women in the ranks delivering incredible results for the company from the offices, onsite and on the factory floor.

The company delivers shop fitting design, manufacturing and installation across the UK and Europe; and this year is celebrating its highest turnover since its original inception in 1978.

Lynn Shearer is the company’s assistant finance administrator and she first joined the company when the now Managing Director, Stephen Flynn, was at school! From Chopwell, Lynn said the team is like a family to her, supporting each other and all with the same goal to make the company a success!

Down in the factory Mel King, a shop floor joiner, has been with the company for three years. The 28-year-old from Consett says she loves her job and it is really easy to get along with everyone!

Hollie Clennan, part of the painting and decorating team agrees with Mel. The 30-year-old from Throckley used to be a hairdresser but fancied a change and joined Rosebirch 18 months ago. She loves the new ethics of the company which can be seen displayed around the factory and offices.

Kimberley Flynn was part of the team that embodied the ethics “We Build with Trust; Deliver with Grit; Care with Loyalty”. The HR and people lead joined three years ago and says the favourite part of her day is seeing the team develop and thrive.

Newest to the Roses is Rachel Brough, a Quantity Surveyor. Working for a partner company, she saw an opportunity to join Rosebirch and jumped at the chance. From Dinnington, she joined the team in June. She said the attraction was how many long servers the company had, which spoke volumes about what it would be like to work there. So far, she isn’t disappointed!

Another addition to the Roses this year is Casey Veveers who joined in February as Finance Manager. Casey is German and when she found out the team deal with clients across Europe she found the role appealing. Working in Casey’s team is 19-year-old Sassy Laws, a junior finance assistant. From Highfield, Sassy echoes the sentiment of the rest of the team saying she enjoys her job because of the people.

One of the long-standing team members is Jac Kesson, who has been office manager in charge of payroll since 2014. From Forest Hall, Jac also loves the supportive environment of the entire team.

Stephen Flynn, managing director, said of his team of Roses:

“Diversity is what makes this team work as well as it does. We are all for giving opportunity, training and development to the right people and all of the women who work here show talent, dedication and loyalty to the company. We have some really challenging projects and it is great to see everyone roll their sleeves up to make it happen for the client!”
