Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Thousands of balls and thousands of entries later, we have a cruise competition winner!

Screen Shot 2016-05-24 at 13.21.39To help celebrate their milestone 10-year anniversary, finally one lucky person (well, two actually) has won Pebbletree Ltd’s 13-night luxury cruise competition.

Compelled to do something special for this landmark occasion, along with a number of internal celebrations, Pebbletree decided to give someone outside of the business the opportunity to win this incredible prize.

To win this fabulous competition, to sail from Southampton to Spain and the Canary Islands aboard Celebrity Cruises’ Eclipse ship in October 2016, Pebbletree invited hopefuls to enter by simply guessing the amount of balls stuffed into the retro British phone box located at their office HQ.

That’s right – they have a full size red British phone box in their office and it was filled to the brim with ball pit balls and footballs!

Contestants were invited to enter the competition via Pebbletree’s website, where they were greeted with a page containing all the competition information and a high resolution image of the phone box filled with the balls.

Entrants were then simply required to submit some basic information, along with their guess for how many balls were in the phone box, then back sit and hope until after the competition closed to find out if they were the lucky winner.

Thousands of entries later, and with guesses ranging from the ridiculous to the realistic, one lucky entrant came out victorious.

Mr Richard Pierpoint, of Lymington on the south coast in Hampshire, was that lucky winner. Mr Pierpoint, Director of FlexiSail, a boat and yacht sharing business based in Lymington, will set sail with his wife Sue after Richard’s guess beat off competition from over 1,500 other entrants.

Mr and Mrs Pierpoint will take in sights such as Tenerife, Madeira and Lisbon, staying in an elegant Stateroom aboard the Eclipse ship, complete with an ocean-view balcony. Included in their prize on top of the cruise itself is a ‘Classic Drinks’ package and $300 on-board spending money – all paid for by Pebbletree.

Quotes:

Janni Thornton, MD and co-founder of Pebbletree said:

“After really pushing this competition to customers through our notification system, we were over the moon to discover that it was a customer that had won the competition, and with Mr and Mrs Pierpoint, we have winners who are both grateful for winning the cruise, and happy to participate in marketing around their win.

“We wanted to splash out for our 10th anniversary, and after all, without our customers, we wouldn’t have made it this far, so a big prize such as the cruise just made sense to us.”

Competition winner Richard Pierpoint said:

“When I saw the competition, I was intrigued and decided to enter, as it is a similar format to a competition that we at FlexiSail run when we exhibit at boat shows. I thought there might be around 4000 balls in there, but seeing that there were balls of different sizes it was anyone’s guess. Looking down at my keyboard, 4321 came easily to my fingertips and just made sense! They say that your first hunch is often right!”

“We couldn’t be happier with winning this wonderful prize; although we are in the yachting industry through our  boat share membership business, we have never been on a cruise before, so we are very much looking forward to setting sail. I remember many, many, years ago waving my parents off on a cruise and thinking, one day…. and now that day has come! Thank you.”

“We would like to pass on our enormous thanks to the Pebbletree team for their generous prize, we are extremely excited to tick this experience off of our bucket lists!”
