Two time-served tradesmen with a combined 47 years’ service have recently progressed into building surveyors’ roles at a local housing provider.
Martin Clish, 50, from Belmont and Adam Goodall, 31, from Brandon both recently leapt at the opportunity for career progression at County Durham Housing Group by starting new roles as building surveyors.
Adam said: “I’ve worked as a gas engineer for 14 years, but I’ve always been interested in the building side of things.
“I’m keen to learn more, study, gain knowledge and better myself. Starting in a new role makes you nervous and excited, but you’ve got to go for.”
Martin, a former joiner, said: “I started as an apprentice in 1983, so the new role appealed to me after 33 years of tapping in nails.
“It’s a good job and very different from what I did previously; now I’m learning about all of the trades rather just concentrating on one.”
