Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Training to help small firms tell their story

Business owners on North Tyneside are being encouraged to tap into a new media training and PR service to help generate more sales and commercial opportunities.

Whitley Bay based communications and digital content specialist Tom Willcox has launched the service aimed at helping smaller firms become more proactive in their pursuit of new custom by spreading the word about their business successes.

The training will help them to fashion strong news stories, utilise digital PR and marketing techniques, and make best use of PR photography to increase local awareness of their business.

The one-to-one service provides businesses, start-ups and budding entrepreneurs with a practical guide to identifying stories for publication on websites or for potential news coverage, writing press releases and producing creative imagery.

Sessions cover website content generation, profile building and engagement with traditional and online media, and showing how imaginative photography adds value to a story.

“Sound PR and publicity strategies play a pivotal role in helping small businesses open up new windows of opportunity, but for many it can be as baffling as solving a Rubik’s cube,” explains Tom.

“The media skills training is aimed primarily at smaller companies without the budget to cater for a regular, retained service which is usually the preserve of their larger competitors.

“It will equip them with a simplified range of PR, media and communications tools to take away themselves and create a narrative around their client successes, or they can choose a tailor made pay-as-you-go service to help promote their business as and when they want.”

Tom’s services cover website content generation, press releases and promotional picture stories, and copywriting for marketing materials.  He also works with design and communications agencies on website building projects and communications campaigns for businesses across a range of industries.
