UK software specialist expands North East base after record breaking year

CaptureLeading North East software and technology company Orchard is relocating into new premises as part of a wider UK expansion which has already resulted in record annual sales.

In a coordinated plan of future growth, Orchard has announced it will move from Kings Manor to new offices in Central Square, assisted by leading property agent Bradley Hall.

Orchard, which comprises Orchard Information Systems, based in Newcastle, and subsidiary in4systems, in Wokingham, has hit sales of almost £16m in 2015, an 11% increase on last year’s figures.

The Newcastle group, which specialises in housing management, asset management, finance management and related systems to the UK social housing sector, currently employs more than 200 people but needs more flexible office space to accommodate future recruits.

Orchard has signed a ten year lease on the entire third floor of Central Square, close to the rapidly emerging Stephenson Quarter on Forth Street.

Nick Lambert, financial director at Orchard said: “The move from Kings Manor to Central Square signifies a lot for the business. It reflects a great year for both Orchard Information Systems and in4systems and heralds the start of a new era for us.

“The location of the new office is ideal as it is close to Newcastle Central Station and based within the vibrant and up and coming Stephenson Quarter, which boasts some of the region’s most exciting developments.

“We will be proud to welcome guests, clients and partners to the new office space. The Orchard team are all very much looking forward to the move which will enable everyone to work together on the same floor, a big improvement over our present accommodation.”

Neil Hart, director at Bradley Hall, in Grey Street, Newcastle, said: “The office move is the next step for Orchard, which celebrated a successful year in terms of growth.

“The Central Square offices are some of the best in the region and perfectly met the requirements of Orchard. The spacious offices provide room for expansion and the impressive facilities include a large conferencing suite, café and breakout space.

“The location offers excellent transport links to the adjacent Central Station, providing a convenient position for Orchard’s visiting clients and from across the UK.”

Orchard is set to join other regional business at the offices, which were named the British Council for Offices best refurbished workspace, including Ove Arup Partners, Jackson Solicitors and The Arts Council.
